Different Earring Styles

Earrings can complete almost any outfit, whether you’re looking to dress up or dress down there is always the perfect set of earrings to complete your look. However, I’m sure you aren’t fully aware of all the different types of earrings you can purchase. So, here at The Jewel Hut we are going to break down some of our favourite styles of earrings for you, so you don’t have to!

Surprisingly there are considerably more styles of earrings to choose from than we realise, so there will always be a pair for you to choose from. With many brands producing different styles, there are plenty of different types of earrings to choose from here at The Jewel Hut.

Stud Earrings

Stud earrings are normally classed as a minimalist type of earring. It has a singular point attached to a post; the single stud will normally be adorned with a small gem or may just be bare metal.

Huggie Earrings

Huggie earrings are small sized hoop earring that hugs the ear, which means the earring is sitting very close to your earlobe. The huggie earring is usually chunkier than that of a standard hoop earring.

Chandelier Earrings

Pretty self explanatory, the chandelier earring is usually made from a selection of beads or jewels that are connected together. Once placed through the earlobe, these jewels tend to hand freely in a cascading shape like that of a traditional chandelier.

C Hoop

Usually a hoop with a missing section, resembling the shape of the letter C, they have all the same characteristics without the same closure.

Bajoran Earrings

The Bajoran earrings were earrings worn by the Bajoran people in the franchise Star Trek. The piece of elaborate jewellery was worn on the right ear as a symbol of their faith.

Clip-On

Exactly as it says, clip-on earrings are literally earrings that clip-on rather than pierce through the earlobe.

Tassel Earrings

Traditionally worn as talismans in the Middle East, the tassel earring has transformed into a bold fashion statement worn by many.

Shoulder Duster

The term shoulder duster essentially refers to and long lean earrings, with the length of said earrings almost touching the wearers shoulders.

Lever Back

A type of earring that uses a clasp to hold the earring in place, usually classed as easy to wear and sturdy for daily wear too.

Hoop Earrings

An earring that is circular in design mad of metal that can be opened and pass through an ear. Throughout time the hoop earring has symbolised many different things but today are seen as a staple piece of jewellery.

Drop Earrings

Dropper earrings tend to hang below the earlobe and tend to stay stationary.

Threader Earrings

Threader earrings tend to come with a singular post on one end with you thread through your piercing and then pull the rest of a very fine chain through.

Mismatched Earrings

Mismatched earrings are literally mismatched earrings, growing in popularity many people are wearing earrings that do not match as a fashion statement.

English Lock

The most popular type of lock of earring closures, usual best suited for heavy and large earrings.

Cuff

The cuff earring is normally worn around the outer edge of the ear; it gives a similar look to that of a helix or a snug.

Plug

Also know as a stretcher, plug earrings can we worn after your piercings have been sufficiently stretched.
