Why ELearning: A Guide to Online Learning and Development

Today’s world is rapidly moving on the path to utilization. With an increasing number of technical applications that allow for communication and the transfer of knowledge, technology is rapidly improving. Knowledge acquisition in traditional classrooms can be limited to what the instructor knows and what they have access to.

E-learning is a broad term used to describe many electronic ways to allow students access to education. These include web-based, web-based, computer-based, video and audio recordings as well interactive TV. E-learning allows flexibility in learning, distance learning, and audio recordings. Blended learning, however, is an e-learning option that can be used in conjunction with face-to-face instruction.

Evolution of E-Learning

The last ten years have seen major changes in elearning consulting. In the early days of e-learning, courses were usually custom-made by groups or programmers assisted by software-making tools. With the advent of technology, it was possible to create eLearning courses using software tools.

Technological advances brought new hardware, such as portable computers. This made learning online easy. Many people today use tablets and smartphones for online classes, web seminars, or webinars.

E-Learning

E-Learning may be classified by how it is shared between the instructor and the student. Informal distribution forms of e-learning are those in which students have access to the course material. However, they are not monitored or tested for their completion.

In e-learning, the instructors often keep track of student progress and record their results. Most institutions that offer students certifications have specific standards and systems for gauging student scores.

Element

It is important to have a list of criteria in place when creating an online course. This ensures students are able to fully benefit from the course they sign up for.

These are some of the common elements of e-Learning:

  • The teacher/instructor’s role is critical. He/she must provide the necessary feedback for students. It is vital to have an organized Learning Management System. Both students and instructors should be able to access it easily.
  • The core feature of eLearning is the learning materials. Course material is often simple and easy for students to access.
  • Communication is critical for learning. Students must choose from one or more modes of communication in order to receive online coursework from their instructor.
  • There are many ways that learners and teachers can share their knowledge today. The trainer interacts with the viewers or listeners using multimedia, voice communications or videos (live or recorded), presentations, product demonstrations, or text chats. Most of these are done over the internet.

E-Learning Benefits

The rapidly changing technological environment has enormous implications for the delivery of education. Today many institutions of higher education offer off-premise schooling. It has many advantages compared to on-campus. One reason is space. Schools can accommodate as many students for the courses they offer through eLearning, as factors like classroom space and accommodation space are no longer limitations.

Flexibility

E-learning is very flexible since learners can access the material at their convenience. Students who live at a distance from the physical classrooms and don’t have the time or energy to visit the instructor have the luxury of choosing the best time to study.

There Are More Fields Than You Can Choose From

There are many courses and online degrees available online today. E-Learning does NOT limit student access to the same subjects as traditional face-to-face learning. A student from Africa can access and complete coursework that isn’t offered in their school but is available at another school in Africa. That is the power behind E-learning.
